How we work
The approach we take in our Thrive hypothyroidism programme is based on Functional Medicine and Nutritional Therapy.
We are not medical doctors; rather, we focus on supporting your health through nutrition and lifestyle.
What is involved?

When we work with you, we take the time to understand the story of your health.
We always start by discussing your health goals, and by talking through your health and life story. We’ll arrange some useful testing if you are happy for it. Above all, we listen and aim to understand.
We’ll then give targeted and personalised advice. This will likely include recommendations for dietary change, and advice on physical activity, sleep, and relaxation. We’ll recommend specific supplements if we believe they may be valuable for you.
We’ll give you access to our library of videos and handouts for extra information and support.
Our recommendations will be designed collaboratively to fit your lifestyle, and targeted specifically at issues underlying your health complaints. It’s truly a ‘root cause’ approach.
What to Expect
We will help you understand your body and support you in implementing change. Together, we’ll design your personalised nutrition and lifestyle plan.
Understanding your health
We will get to know you and gain an in-depth understanding of your health. We will ask about your current symptoms, health history, previous tests and treatments, diet, and lifestyle. All these details, from childhood illness to current habits, help us to discover potential root causes and see opportunities to improve your wellbeing.
We’ll then provide you with nutritional and lifestyle recommendations (diet, physical activity, sleep, self-care, and relaxation). We’ll discuss these with you in detail, and make sure they fit well with your lifestyle. We will recommend targeted supplements. If you are happy for it, we will also arrange blood test(s) to better understand your health.
Making changes
Everyone responds to nutritional and lifestyle changes differently, and you may find some recommendations easy to implement, and others challenging. We are certified coaches, and we’ll help you through this critical phase. We’ll discuss your questions and challenges, and refine your plan so it is well-suited to you.
You are always welcome to tell us if there is a change you would prefer not to make. We will find a good alternative together! Our approach is flexible and we aim for you to enjoy your journey to better health.
Interpretation and adaptation
We’ll make follow-up appointments to ask how you are doing, to explain the results of any tests, and to understand together how your health is responding to the plan. We will modify our recommendations to create an enhanced plan based on the changing picture of your health.
If necessary, we may make referrals to other healthcare practitioners, doctors or specialists – for example, if we both feel there is some additional medical support that may be appropriate for you.
Supporting long-term health
We will support you to implement your enhanced plan, and ensure it suits you well. We will help you find habits that sustain your health and fit positively into your life.
After your programme, we may be able to offer flexible ongoing support or other referrals to suit your health goals, lifestyle and preferences.
