    FAQs

Do you offer more than the general nutrition/lifestyle guidelines that I can find elsewhere?

Our approach is highly personalised: we aim to identify and support the specific issues that matter for you.

General healthy living guidelines certainly have their place. However, for certain people, they can miss the point – a good example is people suffering from allergies or intolerances to foods advised on a standard ‘healthy’ diet. In this case, no amount of discipline in following the guidelines will relieve symptoms.

You’ll probably have heard of countless things you should do to improve your health – eat more vegetables, sleep better, exercise more, meditate… and you might have seen adverts for a huge variety of supplements, claiming to cure more or less everything.

We provide you with a clear idea of what to prioritise, and we set expectations about how much impact you may see, based on peer-reviewed research.

What difference can dietary and lifestyle change really make to my health?

The impact can be astounding. Many people suffering from chronic complaints like fatigue, brain fog, digestive disturbance and migraines can find these problems vastly reduced after some targeted diet and lifestyle change. Of course, the answer will be different for everyone – but this can be a really valuable approach.

Aside from our genetics, diet and lifestyle are the biggest determinants of our health. It may sound trite to say ‘we are what we eat’ – but let’s not forget that we actually are. Nutrients affect our physiology, and our approach considers these connections and controls.

Stress, activity, environment, and lifestyle also have dramatic influences on health, particularly over the longer-term. In our consultations and programmes, these factors are always explored.

How much evidence is there for what you do?

Our approach is heavily science-based – there’s a huge body of research that correlates diet and lifestyle factors with health and disease. Regarding tests and supplements, we only recommend those that are backed by good evidence.

We’re committed to keeping up-to-date with scientific understanding, and for every client we set aside time to review the relevant scientific literature.

What if I buy a programme and I can’t complete it because my circumstances change?

We understand that life isn’t always predictable, and we’ll be accommodating if this happens to you. You can either choose to defer the remainder of your programme, or receive a refund for the hours of practitioner time you have not used (it’s worth noting that a lot of practitioner time is spent on preparing and researching for the initial consultation). Check your terms of agreement for details of how much notice is needed when cancelling a session.

Will you recommend a lot of tests and supplements?

Supplements and tests can allow very targeted support. However, we’re also careful not to overuse them.

We’ll always explain the cost and benefit balance. Our approach is collaborative, so if you don’t want to do tests or take supplements, we’ll work around your preferences. When we do recommend tests and supplements, we select the ones that are most useful for you.

How difficult is it to follow your programmes?

Our aim is to make your programme perfectly achievable for you.

Some people are very motivated to make big changes. Others have a lot of competing priorities, and are happier with smaller steps. We’ll keep in touch with you throughout your programme to make sure your plan is working well for you.

Will your recommendations be expensive?

We’ll always aim to work within your budget. If you’re concerned about costs we’ll probably minimise tests and supplements, and work on the fundamentals of diet and lifestyle. This can still be a really powerful approach.

I’m vegan – will you work with me?

Of course! We’d be very happy to work with you.

We will never question your choice if you are vegan for ethical reasons. If you became vegan for health reasons and you’d like to talk through your choice, just ask us.

Will I have my consultation(s) online or in person?

This is up to you. We generally find that clients have the best experience if they’re able to come to see us in person, at least for the first consultation.

However, we recognise this might not be practical or easy, especially if you’re not local to Cambridge. In this case, we can conduct all of your consultations online. Just let us know what you’d prefer on the discovery call.

What’s the benefit of a personalised approach?

When it comes to nutrition and lifestyle, the best answer is different for everyone.

Some people thrive on a low-carbohydrate diet; others can barely tolerate it. Some people develop food intolerances easily; others are more resilient. Past stresses and illnesses can affect our health today.

Personalisation is also incredibly important when it comes to planning change. We all have different lifestyles, priorities, and goals – so what is practical for one person may be difficult for another. In our consultations, we listen to you, suggest a range of options, and collaboratively create your plan of action.
